Thomas Sleuthman witnessed a bond of manrent by Andrew Rollo of Duncroub, 1471 (Oliphants, p. 17), Patrick Sluthman was a monk of Newbattle, 1474 (Neubotle, pref., p. xxv), Benart Slumane was a tenant under the Abbey of Kelso, 1567 (Kelso, p. 529), and William Slewman, reidare at Cavers, 1574 (RMR.). Joannes Asleuman or Aslewman was merchant burgess of Edinburgh, 1623 (Inquis. Tut., 368), Margaret Sluman or Slowman held a lease of land there, 1627-28 (BOEC., T„ p. 212—214), and Bessie Slewman was married there in 1629 (Edinb. Man.). John Sluman in Flwriswallis, 1637 (Lauder), Bessie Sleoman appears in parish of Douglas, 1661 (Lanark CR.), and Nicolas Slimman in Dumfries, 1684 (Dumfries). There was a Sluthmanhill or Slewmanshill in Renfrewshire, 1504 and 1510 (RMS., II, 2817, 3484).
