According to another version, the name is derived from Lipinki mundane name Slipenchi. According to the superstitious custom of the ancient Slavs, such names were assigned to children in order to avert evil forces. In order not to tempt fate and ward off evil, children were given names with the opposite meaning to what parents expected or desired for children. In this case, hoping to have a beautiful and healthy boy, the parents named him Slipenky.
