SLOGADADH: The M. Irish personal name Sluagadach, 'leader of a military expedition,' appears as Slogadadh, the name of a leader of the bishop of St. Andrews's host, c. 1128 (RPSA., p. 117). As Slugepah he appears as a witness in King David's letter respecting the consecration of Robert, bishop of St. Andrews, at York, 1128 (Haddan and Stubbs, Councils and ecclesiastical documents relating to Great Britain and Ireland v. 2, pt. I, p. 215). In the charter of Thurstin, archbishop of York, on the same subject, his name is misspelled Slugedt (loc. cit.). An earlier Sluagadach went forth to Rome, c. 966-971 (CPS., p. 10).
