Syncopated farms of Steven, which see. Found in Fife, the Lothians, Ayrshire and Roxburghshire. Alan Steyn was a monk of Kilwinning Abbey, 1557. John Steyne was burgess freeman of Glasgow in 1575, and James Stein in 1583 (Burgesses). As forename: Steyn Tran in Irvine, 1450 (Irvine, I, 45), and Steyne of Wod, voter in Monkland, 1519 (Simon, 45).
