STIKLAW: Local. Ricardus de Stikelwe witnessed Adam de Morham's grant of land of Dunypais to the Abbey of Cambuskenneth, c. 1200 (Cambus., p. 109), and another Richard de Styclau was seneschal to Gamelin, bishop of St. Andrews, 1268 (RPSA., p. 173). Master Weyland de Stiklawe or Stykelaw, canon of Dunkeld, and Henry de Stiklawe were envoys of Sir Robert de Brus, earl of Carrick (Bain, II, 675). William Stiklaw was a witness in St. Andrews, c. 1290 (in transumpt of 1466) (Laing, 15). In 1297 Wayland de Stykelowe was ambassador of Eric, king of Norway (Bain, II, 961). A horse was purchased from Ricardus de Stikelawe, 1312 (ibid., III, p. 429), William de Sticlau was a charter witness in Inverness, c. 1360 (Grant, III, p. 12).
