The arms of the family, Sable, a bend Or, between six fountains Proper, are thus accounted for by Leland: "The Ryver of Stour risith ther of six fountaines or springes, whereof three be on the north side of the Parke, hard within the pale: the other three be north also, but without the Parke; the Lord Stourton gyveth these six Fountaynes yn his armes."
