Richard de Suafham who witnessed a charter by the abbot and convent of Kelso in 1178 (RAA., I, p. 9), appears again in 1185 as witness io Eschina de Londonis' gift of the church of Molle to the Abbey of Kelso (Kelso, 146). Nicol de Swafham, parson of Great Daltone, rendered homage in 1296 (Bain, H, p. 214).
