Version 1. What does the name Tarasov mean.

The surname Tarasov undoubtedly came from 'Taras' and the suffix 'ov' (affiliation) In turn, the name 'Taras' comes from the name of the goddess Tara ((Tarusa, Tarina, Taya, Tabiti, Bereginya) - Goddess-keeper of the Sacred Groves, Forests, Dubrav and the Sacred Trees - Oak, Cedar, Elm, Birch and Ash. Tara is the younger sister of Dazhdbog.) and the ancient 'Az' (I) simplified to 'as' The name is very ancient. Significantly Ancient Christianity and Ancient Greek Civilization

Version 2. The history of the origin of the surname Tarasov.

Translated from Sanskrit, the ancient Aryan nickname Ta-ras is 'it has a race', i.e. personal relationship with God (Almighty).

Version 3.

After the Christianization of Russia in 988, every Slav during the official baptism ceremony received from the priest a baptismal name that served only one purpose - to provide a person with a personal name. The baptismal names corresponded to the names of the saints and were, therefore, ordinary Christian names. The basis of the surname Tarasov was the church name Taras. Often, the ancient Slavs added the name of the father to the name of a person, thereby indicating his belonging to a particular genus. This is due to the fact that there were relatively few baptismal names, and they were often repeated. The addition to the person's name in the form of an indication of his father helped solve the problem of identification. Surname Tarasov is formed on behalf of Taras. This name is of Greek origin and translates as 'troublemaker, rebel.' This name in ancient times was carried by St. Tarasius, Patriarch of Constantinople. For his pious life and devotion to the Orthodox faith, Tarasius was appointed patriarch from the tsar's dignitaries, in whose rank he helped the poor a lot, and also built a large number of monasteries and hospitals (9th century). In Russia, they believed that if you give the child the name of a saint or a great martyr, his life will be bright, good or difficult, because there is an invisible connection between the name and destiny of a person. Taras, eventually got the name Tarasov.

Version 4.

Tarasov is a Russian surname. Meanwhile, the Russians do not have and never had the name Taras. Therefore, there is no connection between them. This surname, in my opinion, does not come from a name, but from a nickname. The fact is that among the Slavs (at least the eastern ones) in the past, wooden structures of a special construction were called 'tarases', laid in the foundation of earthen ramparts and wooden walls of fortifications, as well as serving as bridge supports or to strengthen river banks. In addition, for the sieges and assaults of fortresses, a similar type of log cabins were used on wheels, with loopholes for shooting. They were also called 'Tarasy'. In general, this term, apparently, signified among the Slavs something stable, vertically raised above the surface of the earth. Apparently, the word 'hummocks' is also of the same origin - blocks of ice protruding from a frozen river. Vowels mismatch is explained by the North-Russian origin of the word, that is, by the 'edge'.

Version 5.

From the baptismal name Taras - a rebel, troublemaker (Greek) - there were still surnames: Taranov, Tarasikov, Taraskin, Tarasyev, Tarashkin. But the consonant Tarasin points to the first ancestor who skillfully erected tparas - rolling log houses to attack the city fortified with walls (for the Taras people of Novgorod - coastal and bridge abutments on stilts, otherwise bulls). Tarasova Alla Konstantinovna (1898-1973) - People's Artist of the USSR, Hero of Socialist Labor. She played at the Moscow Art Theater, starred in the films: 'Thunderstorm', 'Peter I' and others. Her work was awarded the State Prize five times.

Version 6

The surname is easily deciphered: the name Taras (translated from Greek - 'embarrass, disturb') is now very popular. Tarasov's 'namesakes' - Taran, Taranov, Tarasevich, Tarasenko, Tarasik, Tarasikov, Taraskin, Tarasovsky, Tarasyev, Tarashkin from the same series, since they are formed from diminutive and affectionate forms of the name Taras. However, one should take into account the fact that in ancient times taras were called rolling log cabins to attack a city fortified with high thick walls: 'Rushing to the monastery from all countries, from the stairs, and with shields, and with taras chopped on wheels.' In the Novgorod lands, Taras are coastal and bridge foundations on stilts. In Kamchatka, to this day you can hear this word in the meaning of ice slides and humps, when the river becomes uneven, mounds. It is free to choose any meaning of these surnames. But Tarasin unequivocally leads from the nickname of the master, who built different types of taras.
