Tarzwell Surname Definition:

The family can trace only to 1588, in the county of Dorset. From a James Tanswell born at Buckland-Newton in that shire, descend the Tanswells, the Taswells, and the Tazewells of England and of Virginia, U.S. There is a faint tradition of a French extraction, but I think the name is clearly of English origin.
