An official who had charge of the lands or buildings belonging to the Knights-Templars. Robert Templeman witnessed a resignation by Thomas Strachan of Glenkindy, 1406 (SCM., V, p. 254). Thomas Templeman was sergeant for the sheriffdom of Edinburgh in 1450 (ER., V, p. 396), payment was made to David Tempilman in 1503 (Lanark, p. 12), and another David Templeman, messenger within the shirefdome of Wigtoun, is mentioned in 1505 and 1517 (Milne, p. 14; RSS., I, 2924). John Tempilman had ane respet' for slaughter in 1527 (RSS., I, 3852), David Tempilman is recorded in Irvine, 1537 (Irvine, I, p. 40), and in 1565 mention is made of the heir of the late Annibill Tempilman, one of the portioners of the temple-lands of Ardersier (Cawdor, p. 267). Andrew Templeman, heir of Richard Temileman, portioner of Pitfar, 1685 (Retours, Perth, 1127).
