This surname is derived from the name of an ancestor. 'the son of Trasemond.' No doubt the Trasemundus and Trasmundus of Domesday, found in Wiltshire and Dorset. As a surname, I can only discover instances in Norfolk and the North of England. It has existed four centuries at least in York. The terminative -mund or -mond becomes -man; v. Osman, Wyman, &c.
