In records of the surname Thevenin and its variants, there is a reference to a family from Bourgogne called Thevenin de Tanlay. The Countess Thevenin de Tanlay was born de Saint-Cyran. She married the Marquis de Thevenin de Tanlay and they lived in Mauroi in the 9th arondissement of Paris. There were also a Count and Countess Thevenin de Tanlay who lived at La-Tour-Maubourg in the 7th arondissement. The Countess was born Boré-Verrier. He was a Chevalier of Saint-Louis and was born at Guise in Aisne on April 17, 1766. Louis Thevenin de Tanlay, described above, was a member of the electoral college of l'Yonne and was born at Paris on May 12, 1787. We discover that this family came from ancient roots in La Rochelle and produced a Secretary to the King in 1700.
