Local. There is or was a place named Todrick or Todderick in Selkirkshire (Retours, Selkirk, 22). William Tothrik held a land in Edinburgh, 1428 (RMS., II, 116). Thomas Tothric was notary in a case concerning the third part of Cranshaws in 1453 (Swinton, p. xxxix). Archibald Todryk was burgess of Edinburgh in 1464 (Neubotle, p. 252), and five years later safe conducts were granted Archibald Todryk, Scottish merhant, and to William Todryk (Bain, IV, 1389). William Todrik, merchant and burgess of Edinburgh (d. 1507) married a daughter of Lady Margaret (second daughter of King James II) and Lord Crichton. His name is still preserved in Todrick's Wynd, Edinburgh. Archibald Tothrik (Todrig, or Tothrick) appears as burgess of Edinburgh, 1482 and 1504 (CDE., 52, 54; Soltre, p. 324). Sir William Tochryk (for Tothryk), chaplain at Yester, 1491 (Laing, 379), and Robert Toddryk witness in Linlithgow, 1536 (Johnsoun). George Toddrick or Dodrig is in record as burgess of Edinburgh, 1558-66 (ER., XIX, p. 428; RPC., I. p. 445), and Archibald Toithryke, burgess in 1577 (RHM., II, p. 235). John Toddrick, A.M., of St. Andrews diocese in record, 1580 (Laing, 1002), and John Todrick was heir portioner of land in the burgh of Dundee, 1634 (Retours, Forfar, 224).
