TRABROUN: Most probably from Trabroun in Berwickshire, although there is another Trabroun in East Lothian. Three individuals of this name rendered homage for their possessions in 1296, all residents in the county of Berewyke, namely Rauf de Trebrun, William le fiz William de Trebrun, and Alan de Trebrun (Bain, II, p. 207). In the same year Alan de Trebrun was one of the jury on the inquest made at Berwick concerning the lands of Lady Elena la Zuche in the sheriffdom of Berwick (ibid., p. 215). A later Alan de Trebrune witnessed the confirmation of Snawdoun to the monastery of Dryburgh, c. 1350 (Dryburgh, 232). Andrew de Trebrine, priest of St. Andrews diocese, is in record in 1378 (Canibus., 165), and may be Andrew de Trebrun, rector of Kinnoul, 1394 (Pap. Pet., I, p. 620). David de Trebrun, cleric and notary public in Moray, is in record in 1398 (LSC., 110). (He also signs without the "de"). Andrew Trebrun was prebendary of Buthirgil in 1450 (REB., I, 131).
