TRIPNAY: Richard de Trippeneth was witness to a grant of the church of S. Servan to Cambuskenneth Abbey in 1273, and ten years later there is mention of Nicholas de Tripena (Cambus., p. 14, 49). Nicol de Trippeneye of the county of Linlescu rendered homage in 1296. His seal bears the Agnus Dei to dexter and S' Nicolai de Tripanei (Bain, II, p. 202,534). Thomas de Trypnay was dominus de Scotyston in 1381, and in 1402 Patrick de Tripnay, grandson and heir of umquhill Thomas de Tripnay of Scotstoun, confirmed the disposition made by his grandfather to Alan de Laudre (Neubotle, p. xxiv-xxv)."This family and name of Tripnay are now lost" (ibid., p. xxv). John Tripnay, clericus Sanctiandree diocesis, 1413 (CDE., p. 21).
