A scarce surname in Ross. Macbain V (p. 72) says this is evidently from Gaelic tuathich, 'northern,' but I doubt this. In 1598 Ewen Mac Ian Tuich and John Mac Ian Tuich were assisters of the Roses of Kilravock in acts of reif and 'briggancie' (RPC., V, p. 498). John Tuach of Logiereich took the Test in 1685 (ibid , 3. ser. XI, p. 418). There is a Touch in Kintore parish, Aberdeenshire.
