Tunnock Surname Definition:
This surname is derived from the name of an ancestor. 'the son of Tunnoc,' an interesting name, found in Northumberland so early as the 12th century, and remains as Tunnock in that district still. I strongly suspect that some of the many Tullochs in the Newcastle Directory are not so Scotch as they look, but are an assimilation.
