Turnpenny Surname Definition:
This surname is derived from a geographical locality. 'of Turnepeny' I cannot find the spot. I suspect, after all, that Twopeny or Twopenny may be one of the modern forms of this name (v. Twopenny). From Turnpenny to Turpeny was inevitable, and the step from this to the imitative Twopeny is easy.
