John Turpy was retoured heir of William Turpy, portioner of Ballomylne, avi, in 1607 in part of Bellomiln, and William Turpie was retoured heir of John Turpie, portioner of Bellomylne, 1610 (Retours, Fife, 180,217). William Turpie in parochine of Kirkcaldie, 1641 (PBK, p. 211), William Turpie, maltman, Edinburgh, 1672 (Edinb. Marr.) is recorded as brewer in 1688 (Edinb. App.), and Alexander Turpie in Leven, 1688 (Inquis., 6917). David McCalman Turpie published his Chaldee manual in 1879.
