UNSPAC: Unspac held a carucate of land in 1215 (Cambus., p. 118). Dugal, son of Somerled, had a son called Ospac, and we have also the Gaelic patronymic Macusbaig, which see. The name is Norse Úspakr, more commonly Óspakr, and is an adjective meaning a "disturber of the peace," one who is "violent in his conduct" (Fritzner, Ordbog over det gamle norske Sprog). The name of Raoul fils d'Unspac is engraved on the marble tablet at Dive in Normandy as one of the 449 persons of more or less importance who accompanied William the Conqueror to England (Mackerlie, Galloway, p. 320).
