The first written record of the Vilović family surname I found in old church books on the island Brač, as a family nickname Peruzović who migrated from Brela. The Peruzović came to Brač as a new population in 1645 in Milna (the oldest record). Peruzović in Dol run as Peruzović alias Vilović. This data was processed in the book Bulletin FOR THE National LIFE AND Customs by Andro Jutronić, Zagreb, 1950.
In the cited record there is an evident connection between the surnames and Peruzović and Vilović. The nickname Vilović probably originated in Brela, a part of the family that moved to Brac retained the surname Peruzović, and that part which remained in Brela became the name Vilović. From the above it is evident that Vilović belongs to indigenous peoples in Brela. a) The basis for the origin of the surname Vilović Palace which is a noun originally meaning in Slavic languages, the space in front of the house, outside.
