A West. English form of Fishwick, q.v.
Possibly from Lefisick, a place in St. Austell, co. Cornwall, by dropping the Le, under the mistaken notion that it was the French particle, and then assimilating the orthography to that of a well-known word.
According to some, from Lefisick, in St. Austell. Hals considers Lefisick in St. Mewan the Refishoc of Domesday. compare Bosvîsick (see Bossowsack); also Trevisick in Blisland. D. Gilbert gives a place named Tre-izack, which he renders the corn town. Visick and Visack are most probably the same name as Physick.
