Vizmanos Surname Meaning

User-submitted Reference

Vizmanos is a municipality in Soria, Castille and Leon in Spain. During the Spanish occupation in the Philippines, most of the Spanish soldiers that occupied the country are from Castille (thus the term Kastila from pag-okupa ng nga Kastila, which translates in English to 'the occupation of the Castillians').

During the time when the Chinese traders came in to the Philippines while the Spanish occupancy was ongoing that in order for the Chinese visitors to be one with the country, they 'purchased' filipinized or Spanish-based surnames so that they may fit being Chinese-Filipino. As Vizmanos is one of the municipalities in Spain, it is one of the quick option to have a Spanish sounding surnames, and the idea was quick since the occupant soldiers all came from Castille and Leon in Spain (other examples would be Escalante, Soria, Solana, Elvillar).
