VON DER BURGS boarded the ship, "The Thistle", at Rotterdam and last from Plymouth, England, and arriving in Philadelphia, Pa. on September 19, 1738. Peter and his brother, Walther, can be found on "The Thistle" passenger list of 1738 from Germany. The descendants of this family first settled in Germantown, Pennsylvania. They later moved to Maryland, then south to North Carolina, to Lancaster, and Edgefield County, South Carolina and to Wilkes County, Georgia.
