Geoffrey Wateling.—Hund. Rolls (Norf.) 2 occasionally short for Watlington, q.v.
This name may have been taken from the celebrated Roman Road, the Watling Street, which led from Dover to London, and thence to Chester, North Wales, and Cumberland. Comp.
