The Yorks village, Wellom(e 13th-14th cent., was also Wellun and Wellon in Domesday-Bk. The Leic. parish is on the R. Welland; consequently in Dom. Bk. we find Walendeham, as well as Waleliam.
The documentary evidence shows that the second signification is the commoner.
