Jamieson says: 'Waithman, waythman, a hunter. "Lytil John and Robyne Hade, Waytnmen ware commendyd gude.": Wyntown.

'About this tyme was the waithman Robert Hode with his fallow litil Johne.': Bellend. Cron.
