WHITTINGHAME: From the lands of Whittinghame in East Lothian. Gilbert de Whitingham was one of the witnesses to a charter by Patrick, first earl of Dunbar before 1214 (Raine, App., 116). Petrus de Wyttigham was witness to a charter by Constantine, son of Adam, son of Edulf, to the Abbey of Neubotle, c. 1245 (Neubotle, p. 19). A payment was made to David Wattinghame in 1557 (Guildry, p. 120).
