From the lands of the same name in the parish of St. Boswells, Roxburghshire. Jordan de Wodford witnessed a charter of Walter de Berkeley, c. 1170 (RAA., I, p. 38), and Walterus de Wudeford witnessed a confirmation charter by Alexander II apud Peebles, 1228 (RMP., p. 403). Robert de Wodforde sometime between 1285 and 1306 bestowed his whole property of Wodfordehous in the territory of Lessedewyne upon the monks of Melrose (Metros, p. 320), and in 1296 he rendered homage for his possessions (Bain, II, p. 199). A later Robert de Woddeford witnessed a charter by Sirildis Saddeler, c. 1330 (Kelso, 491), and is also a witness to several other charters in the same record in 1354 (ibid., 496,498, 499,500). As Robert de Vodford, dominus ejusdem, he was a charter witness in 1338 (Dryburgh, 261), and in 1358 he witnessed the grant of the forest of Eteryk to John Kerre (Roxburghe, p. 8). Wodeford 1357.
