The basis of the surname Zakharov was the church name Zakhary. The surname Zakharov was formed from the baptismal name Zachary (translated from Hebrew - 'joy; memory of God'). This name was one of the twelve younger prophets mentioned in the Bible. He wrote the famous Old Testament book, which contained many prophecies about the Mission.
